Where to eat?
I received an email from Matt of FloridaFoodHound telling me about his blog, which is a review of Tampa Bay restaurants. This started me thinking. Where are the best places to eat in Lutz? Which place should warrant a review by Matt?
There used to be a great diner that sat in the parking lot at the shopping center at US 41 and Sunset Rd. It served huge hamburgers and I think it had a drive in. It was a Lutz staple. All the old time locals ate there. I most recently ate lunch at the sports bar and grill in the new version of that same shopping center. Defintely not the same experience.
Technically it's in Land O' Lakes, but there's an Italian place called Benedetto's in the Village Lakes Shopping Center on 54. I'm pretty sure the Lutz limits are very close by, so I thought it would bear mentioning.
It also happens to be the best Italian I've had in the area. You'd never guess there was a nice restaurant in there - the classiest store in the shopping center is a Goodwill.
The atmosphere is a tad over-the-top New York, but it's still a very nice place. And the food is tremendous (and there's plenty of it, for those concerned about that).
Well, for seafood or steak you should go to Splash on Van Dyke and Dale Mabry. Excellent! I second Benedetos for Italian. And for odd Bar-B-Que (the best way to describe serving bat...) there is a little place on the corner of Sunset and Livingston. Unique, not "best".
